Yesterday I visited the Joe Dix Foundation where Joe Dix’s tragic story is being told to awaken peoples understanding of the dangers of child criminal exploitation, knife crime and gang culture in the UK.
The foundation works to raise critical awareness of the early warning signs of child criminal exploitation, and they offer telephone support for concerned parents/carers to speak to others who have similar experiences.
County lines, child exploitation and knife crime are a multifaceted issue that must be confronted and addressed. I will carry Joe’s story with me as I endeavour to work with all levels of leadership and governance to bring awareness to these issues.
There is always a way out. No other family should ever have to tell a story like Joe’s.
